Getting Started: Unboxing Your Ledger® Device

Welcome to Ledger! Your new Ledger device is designed to provide the highest security for your crypto assets. Before using it, ensure that you have received the authentic Ledger packaging. Inside, you will typically find your Ledger hardware wallet, a USB cable, recovery sheets, and user instructions.

Begin by carefully removing the device from the packaging and connecting it to your computer using the provided USB cable. The device will power on and display a welcome message.

                Tip: Always verify that the packaging is intact and sealed before opening. Any tampering could indicate a security risk.
            

Once the device is powered, follow the on-screen prompts to select your preferred language. This ensures that all subsequent instructions are easy to follow.

Next, you will be asked to choose a secure PIN code. This code will protect your device from unauthorized access. Make sure to select a PIN that is both memorable to you and difficult for others to guess.

Setting Up Your Recovery Phrase

The recovery phrase is one of the most critical aspects of using your Ledger device. It consists of 24 words generated by your device. This phrase is your ultimate backup in case your device is lost, stolen, or damaged.

                Important: Never share your recovery phrase with anyone. Ledger employees will never ask for it.
            

Write the words in the exact order they are displayed on the recovery sheet provided in your box. Store this sheet in a secure and private location. Consider creating a secondary copy in case of emergencies, but never store it digitally or online.

After confirming the recovery phrase on your Ledger device, your wallet setup will be complete, and your device is ready for use.

Using Your Ledger® Device Safely

Once set up, you can manage your cryptocurrencies using Ledger Live, the companion application for Ledger devices. Ledger Live allows you to check balances, send and receive crypto, and install apps directly on your hardware wallet.

Always ensure that Ledger Live is up to date. Ledger frequently releases updates to improve security and functionality.
